About Our Team

The Sisters

 The Sisters
Dr. Kat and Dr. Tess have been together their whole lives. Only ten months apart, the sisters were in the same grade all through school. Their time at Life University was no different -- they took every class together. Their mom and dad even joked that they shared a brain cell! They also share a love of helping others achieve better health through chiropractic. Both hold advanced certification in Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique and regularly add to their knowledge and expertise through continuing education programs and professional conferences.

Dr. Katrina Mayes, D.C.

Dr. Katrina Mayes, D.C.
'Chiropractic helps so many people in our community feel and function better -- it's a profession that I am proud to be a part of every day.'

Background
Dr. Katrina Mayes discovered the miracle of chiropractic after suffering with daily tension headaches for almost a year. She then encouraged her husband to try it as he suffered from asthmatic bronchitis and multiple food sensitivities, all of which resolved with chiropractic adjustments. Her experiences sparked a desire to share it with others by becoming a chiropractor herself. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian from Life University in Atlanta, GA in 2010. She and her husband, Tony, share a love of animals and live in Colonial Heights with their three dogs. Dr. Kat can often be found volunteering at the local animal shelter.

She also worked at a chiropractic office, seeing patients recover from variety of ailments. She ultimately decided to become a chiropractor to help others heal. Laurel Sage - Massage Therapist

 Laurel Sage - Massage Therapist
My name is Laurel Sage, I am a 37 year old mother of two loving, energetic little boys. I've been
in the military for 16 years and currently I'm a reservist. I've served 2 deployments as a
MEDEVAC Pilot. I also have a Bachelor's in Special Education.

So what does a Special Ed teacher/Blackhawk Pilot do after returning from a deployment and
wanting to spend more time with her family? I prayed a lot and kept coming up with the same
answer - Massage Therapy school. I attended the full time program at HACC in Harrisburg, Pa
and graduated in May of 2013.

Moving to Virginia right after graduation, I have spent my entire career in the Richmond area
accumulating over 1300 hours of massage experience. I currently work alongside two amazing
chiropractors and therapeutic massage has become my favorite modality. I am very skilled in
deep tissue, prenatal, hot stone, sports, and Swedish massage. I have recently become
certified in Oncology Massage and the Aromatouch Technique. Aromatherapy is another
passion of mine and I will be a certified Aromatherapist by the end of this summer!

Integrity, respect, communication and dedication are the cornerstones of my personal and
professional life. My passion for helping others shines through in my care for you.

I am excited to serve you!
